Since childhood Nandini Sinha (nun-dun-e) has had an inclination towards the visual arts, she hails from a family of creative thinkers. Undoubtedly influenced by her elder brothers, writer Aditya Sinha, and painter Reuben Sinha. Determined to pursue her interest in the visual arts, Nandini went to SUNY Purchase for metal sculpture. Craving a well balanced education, Nandini left sculpture to study history. She obtained an MA in Ancient Indian History, from the School of Oriental and African Studies, . Throughout her education, Nandini continued to feel the absence of working with metal. After some soul searching and a few jewelry classes she had found a medium in which she could integrate her intellectual and creative pursuits. She attended for jewelry design, with the goal of starting Jhoomer. Today, Nandini continues to make metal sculptures, and raise Jhoomer, now an internationally recognized company.
